High Performance Center Micro/Nano
Start of the new funding period
The High Performance Center Micro/Nano began a new three-year funding period in January to implement transfer activities in line with the defined roadmap. One focus is the joint, cross-institutional organization of workshops. In addition, three application- and transfer-oriented projects are being launched.
A key focus for the year 2025 is the joint, cross-institute implementation of a series of industrial workshops on three core topics of the Center of Excellence:
- 3D Systems Integration and 3D Technologies
- MEMS Technologies and Applications
- IIoT – Smart Sensors and Actuators in Production
The workshops will each be held as full-day events and are scheduled to take place in the second half of 2025. An evaluation program will accompany the workshops to assess the suitability of the program for companies and to adjust content and/or formats to meet demand in the following years.
In addition, the partner institutes have defined three application- and transfer-oriented projects:
- The CommUnity project builds on a predecessor project of the Center of Excellence, in which a sensor ring for capturing status data in industrial applications was developed. The project expands the sensor ring with two additional communication interfaces—a low-power Li-Fi transceiver and an NFC interface—which offer advantages particularly in harsh industrial environments.
- The project "Cognitive Multi-Sensor Platform for Robotics Applications" (KoMuRo) is developing a customer-oriented consulting and development service for companies. Using market studies, interviews, and workshops, the project evaluates market potential, needs, and opportunities for a cognitive sensor platform. In addition, a demonstrator system is being set up to serve as a door-opener in discussions with companies or at trade fairs.
- The third project is based on an idea for increasing the performance of gas sensors. A study will examine the current state of the art with regard to comparable methods, focusing on a review of scientific publications and patents.
